Contact Us - Tulsa, OK - Saint Francis Health System:
This is the second email. still no response other than they are working harder to get my son out of this place.
By now SOMEONE here knows I am taking an issue with the food system at St Francis Children Jail. Yes I say Jail. Because of my decent insurance that I am forced to have, my son is getting better care than he did last time. Usually, without insurance or just having SoonerCare, my kid is out of here in three days after surgery. Thank Goddess the medical team is doing well this time.
My issue is just how money hungry this hospital is that you not only over charge the patients and the families for their food here; you over charge your employees as well.
For employees at other hospitals,Their employee food discount is a lot more than $.20 to $.40 difference. An example: A meal of Cheeseburger, fries, salad, and Drink $5.63. almost ANYWHERE else. Here at St. Francis that meal is at a whapping cost of bend over without the lube $16.86. That's a $11.23 more than anywhere else. Including Casinos employee food discounts.
It seems to be the ongoing excuse here is that this is a business. You're right it is just that. A business of HEALING people. So far in that two weeks I have been a prisoner here at St Francis Children's Hospital in Tulsa,OK; I have been robbed of my entire bank account for just eating here. That's just in your cafeteria. NOW, at the request of the Mgr. John LeRoy, I have been asked to use room service.Really now.
So, it states on the St.Francis Menu, and I quote: "Nutrition and Food Services at The Children's Hospital at St Francis Hospital upholds the hospital's history of excellence through delivering the highest quality of nutrition care to all patients, visitors, physicians, and employees." Well, since the Doctors and employees don't eat in the room with the patients;I don't think the part about the room delivery in an hour involves them. However, this part in the brochure that pertains to us states this. "Don't dine alone... Your guest may wish to dine with you. Our Room Service Ambassador can accept a meal order for your guest at a cost of $7.00 for breakfast,$10.00 for lunch, and $10.00 for dinner." Nowhere does it state that the guest will be charged for the meal.
Well, I make an order for a meal, and what does my son hear from the RSA. "How would that be paid?" Obviously, my son said never mind my mom ain't paying any more money here.
How is it that this place charges the parent that is staying in the room with the child that much or at all for a meal?
This IS NOT a five star hotel!

For Visitors
The Children's Hospital at Saint Francis places no restriction on the hours you may be with your child and we encourage you to stay to provide emotional support. Immediate family and grandparents are also allowed to visit. No more than two visitors should stay in your child's room for extended periods of time. Please arrange visits by others with your nurse.
The Children's Hospital provides one sofa or chair-bed for each patient room. We ask that only one family member (must be 18 years or older) stay overnight. We ask guests who stay overnight to wear street clothes instead of night clothes and to be up before 7:00 a.m.
Kitchen and laundry services are available for families 24 hours a day. (Where is this?) A microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot and ice maker are located on the pediatric/adolescent unit, as well as a washer and dryer for minor laundry needs. Free coffee for parents and other family members is also provided.

As you can see, I do not voice my complaints without knowledge.
What is this Kitchen and laundry services? I've been here two weeks, and none of these has been offered me.
I have paid out my bank account to get any services with these. I have used the things available to me on the floors ie coffee, minifridge, and ice machine.
The R.McD's House? Nope. Though I live more than 25miles from the hospital, I don't live more than 25miles from Tulsa.
Though I and like ALL parents here WILL stay with our children, the only reason the hospital encourages it is not to give our children emotional support, but to drain our bank accounts.
